Australia captain Mitchell Marsh will miss the opening T20 World Cup match against Ireland with a groin injury. He suffered the injury during training earlier this week. The setback weakens Australia ahead of their campaign opener in Sri Lanka.
Cricket Australia said Marsh sustained a direct blow to the groin and feels significant pain. Scans confirmed internal testicular bleeding, requiring rest and rehabilitation. Doctors will decide his return based on symptoms and medical advice. However, officials gave no timeline for his comeback.

Josh Hazlewood also remains sidelined with Achilles and hamstring issues. Mitchell Starc has retired from the format, reducing Australia’s bowling strength.
