According to a spokesperson for the ministry, pilgrims can complete the biometric process from home using the Saudi Visa Bio App, allowing them to avoid visiting facilitation centres. The spokesperson emphasised that Hajj visas will not be issued without biometric verification, although pilgrims above 80 years of age are exempt from the requirement.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that visas for Hajj 2026 (1447 AH) began to be issued on February 8. The announcement is part of a comprehensive operational calendar released to Hajj affairs offices worldwide, aimed at enhancing service readiness and streamlining preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage.

Preparations for the Hajj 2026 season began on June 8, 2025 (12 Dhu Al Hijjah 1446 AH), when initial planning documents were circulated to Hajj affairs offices. These early steps were intended to allow sufficient time for coordination and logistical arrangements ahead of the arrival of pilgrims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In early Safar, Hajj affairs offices were provided with detailed information regarding accommodation camps at the holy sites through the digital Nusk Masar platform. Officials said this allowed additional time for planning, review and coordination with relevant authorities.

Under the announced schedule, preparatory contracting for accommodation and essential services is set to begin on 1 Rabi Al Awwal 1447 AH. October 12, 2025 has been designated as the deadline for completing preparatory meetings, finalising operational data and opening pilgrim registration in participating countries.

Additionally, Jumada Al Awwal will witness the signing of major service agreements, along with the launch of a Hajj services exhibition aimed at strengthening cooperation between government institutions and private-sector service providers.

The ministry urged intending pilgrims to complete biometric verification before the deadline to avoid delays in visa issuance.
