
Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi called the ongoing Iran-US nuclear talks “very serious” on Friday. The indirect talks were mediated in Muscat to reduce tensions between the two nations. Both sides clarified their positions and identified areas for possible progress.
Albusaidi posted on X that the discussions helped outline Iranian and American thinking. He said the parties aim to reconvene in due course. The results of the talks will be carefully considered in Tehran and Washington.

The resumption of diplomacy follows weeks of heightened tensions. US President Donald Trump had threatened military action against Iran, increasing urgency for dialogue. Oman played a key role in easing these tensions and maintaining communication channels.
During the first round, Albusaidi met with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. He also held separate talks with US special envoy Steve Witkoff. These consultations focused on creating suitable conditions for resuming diplomatic and technical negotiations.
