
Pakistan and Uzbekistan signed a joint declaration to expand strategic cooperation. The agreement follows Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Pakistan. Leaders emphasized trade, security, connectivity, education, and cultural partnerships.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with bilateral ties. They held comprehensive discussions covering political, economic, and regional cooperation. Both leaders committed to deepening strategic engagement.

The countries agreed to reach a $2 billion trade target in coming years. They also plan joint ventures in textiles, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, minerals, and engineering goods. Industrial and economic cooperation will be significantly enhanced.
On connectivity, leaders highlighted the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (UAP) Railway Project. They called for its early completion and strengthening multimodal transport links. Regional integration and transit trade were emphasized as key priorities.

Finally, the declaration covered defence, security, and cultural ties. Both sides pledged joint military exercises, counterterrorism cooperation, academic partnerships, tourism promotion, and media exchanges. President Mirziyoyev invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Uzbekistan, which he accepted.
