Islamabad’s Banking Court on Monday granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) two days to complete the challan in the foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Banking Court Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar was hearing the case. As the hearing commenced, Special Prosecutor Waseeq Malik appeared before it to represent the prosecution.
During the proceedings, the judge questioned why the challan had not yet been finalized. Waseeq Malik informed the court that letters had been sent to foreign countries to obtain their input regarding the case.
Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar remarked that the case has been pending since 2022 and criticized the prosecution for the delay and lack of urgency.
The court indicated that it would issue a show-cause notice to the investigating officer and summon the FIA Director General in the next hearing. However, the prosecution requested additional time of one week to ten days to complete the challan and asked that the notices be withheld for now. The court directed the prosecution to show progress within two days and adjourned the hearing until February 4, 2026.
