Australia Awards open fully funded master’s scholarships for Pakistani students

ISLAMABAD: The Australia Awards programme is continuing its support for Pakistani students through education-focused development initiatives, offering fully funded scholarships for master’s level studies in Australia.

The programme, part of Australia’s development assistance in Pakistan, aims to promote long-term peace, stability, and prosperity by building capacity, nurturing leadership, and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Priority fields of study for Pakistani applicants include climate change, women and girls’ empowerment, agriculture and water security, infrastructure development, and inclusive economic growth. Scholarships cover the full duration of the master’s programme and include tuition fees, return airfare, a one-time establishment allowance, living expenses, overseas student health cover, academic support services, and fieldwork allowances where applicable.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be Pakistani citizens residing in Pakistan, have completed 16 years of education, and possess at least five years of relevant work experience. Candidates must be under 45 years of age at the time of application and must submit a Development Impact and Linkages Plan detailing how their studies will contribute to Pakistan’s development. Successful applicants are required to return to Pakistan for at least two years after completing their studies. People with disabilities may apply with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0, provided no band is below 5.0, although they must meet full English proficiency requirements before commencing studies.

The selection process includes eligibility screening, shortlisting, interviews, and assessment based on academic merit, leadership potential, professional experience, and development impact. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, with final outcomes expected in late 2026.

Applications for the 2027 intake opened on February 1, 2026, and will close on April 30, 2026, at 14:00 AEST. Applications must be submitted online through the OASIS portal. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
