Iran has declared the armies of European Union countries as “terrorist groups” following the EU’s designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, escalating diplomatic tensions in the region.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated that the EU’s decision harms its own interests and accused European nations of blindly following the United States, while Iranian MPs expressed solidarity with the Revolutionary Guards.

The declaration cites Article 7 of Iran’s countermeasure law, which allows retaliatory actions against countries labeling the Revolutionary Guards as terrorists, including potential expulsion of military attaches and increased scrutiny of foreign military activity.
This move comes after a bloody two-week crackdown on nationwide protests triggered by economic hardships, during which thousands of protesters and security personnel were reportedly killed, making it Iran’s deadliest unrest since 1979.

Iranian leaders also criticized the US, Israel, and European nations for supporting protests, claiming they provoked unrest, supplied resources, and sought to divide Iranian society for political gain, while Tehran defended its response.
Meanwhile, regional diplomacy is ongoing, with Qatar, Turkey, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia engaging in efforts to reduce tensions, though Iran has rejected US demands to curb its missile program, insisting on sovereign defense rights.
