
Punjab has announced free public transport in Lahore for Basant from February 6 to 8. Citizens can travel on metro, buses, and electric buses without paying fares. Around 600,000 passengers are expected to benefit daily from this initiative.
The Orange Line Metro Train will operate from Dera Gujran to Ali Town. It will carry approximately 270,000 passengers every day. This service ensures smooth travel during the busy festival. Meanwhile, 64 metro buses will run from Shahdara to Gajumata. They will enable nearly 150,000 daily commuters to travel for free.

Lahore feeder routes will also be covered, with 188 buses operating across 21 routes. In addition, 40 electric buses will serve two routes in the city. Overall, these arrangements aim to reduce traffic congestion and make travel safer.
Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan praised the initiative. He said citizens will enjoy worry-free and free travel during the Basant festivities. Authorities urged passengers to follow rules and maintain safety while using the services.
