Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert forecasting rain and snowfall across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab from January 31 to February 3, driven by a new western weather system.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience cloudy skies with intermittent rainfall and snowfall in upper districts, including Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Chitral, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, and Kolai-Palas, authorities said.
Meanwhile, plains districts such as Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan may see light to moderate rainfall intermittently.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has urged district administrations and relevant agencies to remain on high alert, implement precautionary measures, and ensure emergency response systems are prepared for possible disruptions.
Officials warned that snowfall in upper areas could lower temperatures significantly, create hazardous road conditions, and lead to closures or slippery routes in tourist destinations like Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Chitral.
Authorities have advised residents and travelers to exercise caution, follow local weather updates, avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas, and remain vigilant to ensure safety amid challenging winter conditions.
