
DUBAI: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said Pakistan has set an ambitious export target of $60 billion by 2029 as part of a long-term strategy aimed at strengthening the country’s presence in global trade.

Speaking during his visit to the Pakistan Pavilion at Gulfood 2026 in Dubai, the minister said the government is focused on promoting and branding “Made in Pakistan” products in line with international quality standards. He described export-led growth as a central pillar of the country’s economic recovery and future development.

Ahsan Iqbal said improving product quality, enhancing competitiveness, and expanding access to international markets were key priorities for achieving the export targets. He added that Pakistan aims to increase its exports further to $100 billion within the next decade, reflecting the government’s long-term vision for sustainable economic growth.
During his visit, the minister toured various stalls set up by Pakistani companies and held meetings with exhibitors participating in the global food exhibition. He praised the diversity and quality of Pakistani products on display and encouraged exporters to focus on innovation, packaging, and compliance with global standards.
The minister highlighted that international trade exhibitions such as Gulfood provide valuable opportunities for Pakistani businesses to connect with global buyers, explore new markets, and strengthen trade partnerships. He said the government would continue to support exporters through policy reforms, trade facilitation measures, and improved market access.
This year, more than 140 Pakistani companies are participating in Gulfood 2026, showcasing a wide range of food and agricultural products. The strong presence reflects Pakistan’s growing interest in expanding its footprint in international food markets.
