Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the newly-elected President of the Lahore Press Club (LPC), Arshad Ansari, and other office-bearers, expressing her best wishes for their success in serving the journalistic community.
In a congratulatory message, the chief minister felicitated Senior Vice President Salman Qureshi, Vice President Nasira Ateeq, Vice President Madiha Almas, General Secretary Afzal Talib, Joint Secretary Imran Sheikh, and Finance Secretary Saliq Nawaz on assuming their respective responsibilities.
She also congratulated the newly-elected members of the LPC Governing Body, including Altaf Hussain Mughal, Asad Mahmood, Ahmad Raza, Sarmad Farrukh, Rabia Azmat, Badr Saeed, Sajjad Kazmi, Zaheer Sheikh, Kamran Khan, and Ashar Jan.
CM Maryam Nawaz expressed the hope that the Lahore Press Club would continue its proud journalistic traditions and play an effective role in promoting responsible, professional, and ethical journalism. She emphasized that a strong and free media is a pillar of democracy and an essential partner in public service.
The CM added that the Punjab government wants to move forward in its mission of serving people of the province in close coordination with the media. She added that journalists are a vital bridge between the government and the public, and their constructive role is crucial in highlighting public issues and guiding policy through informed discourse.
The CM announced that the Punjab government would provide full support to journalist community, particularly in the construction of their own homes. She said that practical steps are being taken to ensure improved living standards and social protection for media professionals. She wished the newly-elected leadership of the Lahore Press Club success and expressed confidence that they would work for the unity, dignity, and welfare of the journalistic fraternity.
Separately, Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of the mother of Minister of State Armaghan Subhani and Tariq Subhani. In a condolence message issued here, the chief minister extended her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with them in this time of profound grief. She offered prayers for the departed soul, seeking Almighty Allah’s mercy and eternal peace for the deceased, and patience and strength for the grieving family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
Tarar felicitates newly-elected office-bearers of LPC
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Monday extended felicitations to the newly elected leadership of the Lahore Press Club.
In his statement, the minister congratulated Arshad Ansari on being elected President of the Club.
He also extended felicitations to Salman Qureshi on his election as Senior Vice President, Afzaal Talib as General Secretary, Nasira Ateeq and Madiha Almas as Vice Presidents, Salik Nawaz as Finance Secretary, and Imran Sheikh as Joint Secretary of the Lahore Press Club.
