President Donald Trump marked one year of his presidency on Tuesday with a long White House news briefing. He said his administration had ended several long conflicts and boosted U.S. influence worldwide. Trump claimed his government ended “eight long and difficult wars” in less than a year and said the United Nations had not helped resolve these conflicts. He repeated that he prevented a potential nuclear confrontation between India and Pakistan, saying both sides were close to war and that his intervention saved millions of lives.
