WASHINGTON, DC: A 10-foot-tall replica of an alleged birthday message from US President Donald Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has been installed on the National Mall. The installation appeared on January 20, coinciding with what would have been Epstein’s birthday.

The group behind the display, calling itself “The Secret Handshake,” described the installation as a “badge of sham.” It will remain on public view until Friday, January 23. Visitors are encouraged to sign the oversized birthday card with messages directed to the Trump administration.

Images of the replica show the note featuring an outline of a naked woman, with a closing line that reads: “Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.” The message first appeared in Epstein-related documents reported by the Wall Street Journal in July 2025.
The Department of Justice has stated that only about 1 percent of the Epstein files have been made public so far, with roughly 2 million documents still under review.
Trump has denied writing the note, suggesting that his signature may have been forged. He also filed a lawsuit last year against the Wall Street Journal over the publication of the message.
The installation comes amid renewed public interest and calls for full disclosure of Epstein’s files. Advocates and critics alike have been pressuring the US government to release all remaining documents related to the disgraced financier, who died by suicide in jail in 2019.

While the replica is a provocative public art display, it underscores ongoing scrutiny of Trump’s ties to Epstein and the broader debate over transparency in the handling of the Epstein files.
