UoG’s One-Year Success Story under the Dynamic Leadership of Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq

On the completion of one year of reforms and development under the distinguished leadership of Vice Chancellor University of Gujrat, Professor Dr. Zahoor ul Haq, the recipient of prestigious Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, the faculty and administration paid a tribute to his one-year services. On this occasion, a dignified ceremony was held at the Hafiz Hayat Campus. During the event, faculty members and administrative officials cut a celebratory cake and warmly appreciated the memorable contributions of Professor Dr. Zahoor ul Haq to the University of Gujrat over the past year.

It is noteworthy that Professor Dr. Zahoor ul Haq assumed office as the fifth Vice Chancellor of the University of Gujrat in January last year. Senior officials participating in the ceremony highlighted his leadership qualities and the significant academic and administrative reforms and developmental progress achieved during the past year. They also presented valuable suggestions for the university’s future growth.

Addressing the gathering, Professor Dr. Zahoor ul Haq stated that students are the focal point of all academic and administrative activities of the university. A friendly and supportive attitude of faculty and administration towards students enhances the university’s image. Positive leadership inspires staff, encourages institutional improvement, and fosters a culture of trust and teamwork, which in turn improves the quality of day-to-day operations. He emphasized that self-accountability leads institutions from good to excellence, and that no compromise can be made on the progress and welfare of the University of Gujrat.

The ceremony was attended by deans of various faculties, directors of academic and administrative departments, the registrar, controller of examinations, treasurer, and other officials.

Reviewing the university’s performance over the past year, the Vice Chancellor stated that a five-year strategic plan has been introduced, providing a clear roadmap for future development across different sectors. He noted that every third student at the university is benefiting from a scholarship, and currently 5,110 students are pursuing higher education at the University of Gujrat on scholarships.

During the current admission cycle, 13 new academic programs aligned with contemporary market needs have been launched. To facilitate student transportation, 25 new buses are being procured at a significant cost. In the latest rankings, the University of Gujrat has been placed among the top ten universities in Pakistan. An Alumni Office is also being established.

Furthermore, a comprehensive research policy has been formulated, including the announcement of cash incentives for faculty members. During the year, ambassadors from several countries visited the university and appreciated its academic and teaching progress. Regular meetings of the Syndicate and Academic Council have strengthened the effective implementation of academic and administrative decisions. Over the past year, the university’s revenue has increased substantially.

Under the leadership of Professor Dr. Zahoor ul Haq, the new year has begun with renewed hope, prayers, and a strong commitment to continued reform and development.
