
The Punjab Home Department has issued strict orders to ban kite flying across the province, warning that violators will face severe legal consequences to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
According to the department, kite flying and manufacturing remain completely prohibited. Those caught flying kites may face up to five years in prison along with fines reaching Rs2 million.
Individuals involved in producing, selling, or transporting kites and kite strings face even harsher punishments. They could receive up to seven years in jail and fines of up to Rs5 million.

Limited permission for Basant celebrations in Lahore has been granted only for February 6, 7, and 8. Kite flying outside these designated dates and times will be treated as illegal.
Authorities stressed that early kite flying or production poses serious threats to human life and property. The crackdown aims to reduce injuries and enforce adherence to safety regulations effectively.
