Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has urged Iran and the United States to return to diplomacy following renewed military escalation. He called for restraint during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The appeal comes as rising tensions threaten regional stability, global shipping, and energy markets.
During the call, the two leaders reviewed the latest developments in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran. According to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that dialogue remains the only effective path to resolving the crisis. He urged both sides to honor their commitments and avoid further military escalation.

Meanwhile, the Qatari premier strongly condemned recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that such incidents undermine confidence, threaten international maritime security, and complicate efforts to reduce regional tensions. The remarks followed an attack on a Qatari oil tanker earlier this week that heightened security concerns across the Gulf.
The discussions also came after reports that Iran launched drones toward a site inside Qatar. Sheikh Mohammed called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and uphold the memorandum of understanding (MoU) previously signed to end hostilities. He stressed that continued dialogue is essential to preventing a wider regional conflict.
