Netflix is expanding its podcast strategy this month by launching two original shows led by popular figures Pete Davidson and Michael Irvin. The move reflects the streaming platform’s growing investment in podcasts as it aims to attract audiences beyond traditional films and series through familiar celebrity voices and exclusive content.
Michael Irvin’s podcast, titled The White House, will premiere on January 19 and focus on in-depth sports discussions and timely analysis. Meanwhile, The Pete Davidson Show will debut on January 30, offering relaxed and candid conversations filmed from Davidson’s garage, creating a casual setting designed to connect directly with fans.

Both podcasts will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers, allowing the company to fully capitalise on the star appeal of its hosts. Davidson, who already has multiple successful comedy projects on Netflix, will release new episodes every Friday featuring friends and fellow entertainers in unscripted discussions.
Irvin’s twice-weekly podcast will explore major sports stories while featuring rotating guest co-hosts, including former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Marshall. The format aims to blend expert insight with lively debate, appealing to sports fans seeking deeper context behind headlines and on-field performances.

These shows join Netflix’s growing catalogue of video podcasts, which also includes licensed content from major audio brands. However, many of these licensed podcasts remain unavailable on YouTube, positioning Netflix as the primary destination for viewers seeking full access to these programs.
The announcement highlights Netflix’s ambition to challenge YouTube’s dominance in podcast viewing, where audiences are projected to watch hundreds of millions of hours monthly. Although still early in building a large podcast library, Netflix is steadily carving space in a competitive market led by established platforms.
