Three dead, six injured in fog-related accidents in Sahiwal

Published on: January 15, 2026 1:20 PM

SAHIWAL: Dense fog in Sahiwal led to multiple road accidents late Tuesday night and early Wednesday, claiming three lives, including a woman, and leaving six others critically injured. Authorities have attributed the collisions to poor visibility, highlighting the dangers of travel during thick fog.

In one incident, a car hit a 55-year-old man near the outer bus stop and fled the scene. Rescue 1122 shifted the victim to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, while police continued to investigate both the driver and the victim’s identity.

Another accident occurred near Qutab Shahna Bridge on the Sahiwal–Faisalabad Road, where Raj Muhammad lost control of his motorcycle and fell into a 40-foot-deep trench, sustaining fatal head injuries. Separately, a Lahore-bound passenger bus ran over 45-year-old Rukhsana Parveen near Gulshan Fatima Housing Society, killing her on the spot.

Four passengers of a coaster van were critically injured when their vehicle collided with a sugarcane-laden tractor-trolley on Jaranwala-Satiana Road. The injured — Ashfaq (34), Shahid (22), Abid (20), and Saad (19) — were shifted to Satiana RHC for treatment. Additional accidents on Arifwala Road and the Old Overhead Bridge left two more men seriously hurt.

FIRs have been lodged with local police, but no arrests have been made so far. Authorities have urged motorists to drive cautiously amid persistent fog.
