The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday closed bearish, losing 1,381.69 points, a negative change of 0.75 percent, to settle at 182,569.82 points compared to 183,951.51 points on the previous trading day, according to PSX data.
During the session, the ready market witnessed a trading volume of 1,034.117 million shares with a traded value of Rs 65.964 billion, against 1,037.262 million shares valuing Rs 62.705 billion in the previous session. Market capitalization declined to Rs 20.630 trillion from Rs 20.770 trillion a day earlier. Out of 483 active companies in the ready market, 90 advanced, 352 declined, while 41 remained unchanged.
K-Electric Limited topped the volume chart with 56.267 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom with 55.671 million shares and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal with 47.524 million shares.
The top gainers included Atlas Honda Limited, which rose by Rs 63.14 to close at Rs 1,673.46, and Security Papers Limited, which increased by Rs 16.30 to settle at Rs 179.33.
On the losing side, PIA Holding Company Limited (B) declined by Rs 913.34 to close at Rs 21,586.66, while Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited fell by Rs 98.42 to close at Rs 28,512.58.
In the futures market, turnover stood at 259.591 million shares with a traded value of Rs 18.875 billion, compared to 200.068 million shares worth Rs 16.494 billion in the previous session. Out of 313 futures-market companies, 60 recorded gains, while 252 declined and one remained unchanged.
Among futures contracts, WTL-JAN led with 26.881 million shares, followed by PIBTL-JAN with 20.250 million shares and PACE-JAN with 19.969 million shares.
