
ISLAMABAD: The PAF chief met Indonesia’s defence minister to discuss aviation cooperation and the JF-17 Thunder. Both sides stressed stronger military ties and future collaboration. The talks followed Indonesia’s recent presidential visit to Pakistan.
According to PAF, Defence Minister Lt Gen (R) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. The meeting focused on capacity building, joint training, and technology exchange. As a result, both air forces agreed to deepen institutional cooperation.

Meanwhile, discussions highlighted growing global interest in the JF-17 Thunder fighter jet. The aircraft gained prominence after showcasing its capabilities during the May 2025 conflict with India. The jet is jointly developed by Pakistan and China and produced locally.
Moreover, the PAF chief briefed the minister on Pakistan’s modernisation drive. He highlighted new capabilities, infrastructure upgrades, and readiness for multi-domain operations. He reaffirmed PAF’s commitment to sustained engagement with Indonesia.

Finally, the Indonesian minister praised PAF professionalism and Pakistan’s aerospace progress. He showed interest in technical collaboration and joint ventures through NASTP. The meeting signalled stronger momentum in long-term Pak-Indonesia defence cooperation.
