
Karachi police shot dead two suspected robbers in an alleged encounter in the Mauripur area, officials said on Monday.

Special Investigation Unit (SIU) SSP Dr Mohammed Imran Khan stated that law enforcement raided Budeni Goth near Marwat Coach Stand, leading to a gunfight. Two suspects, identified as Mohammed Bilal and Naqash, were killed during the exchange. Police recovered two pistols and a motorcycle from their possession. Records showed both men had prior arrests and were allegedly involved in murders and dacoities over the past several years, SSP Khan added.
In a separate incident, city police gunned down an alleged extortionist in Kharadar. Kharadar SHO Pawan Kumar said a patrol encountered two suspects in Jodia Bazaar. After a firefight, one suspect, later identified as Shahzeb, was killed, while his accomplice escaped. A pistol was recovered from Shahzeb.
Police said Shahzeb was part of an extortion gang led by Jameel Changa. He had reportedly sent an extortion message to a trader at Jilani Centre a week ago and had delivered a similar demand to a builder of an under-construction high-rise in Kharadar two months prior. The suspect had also engaged in indiscriminate firing during his criminal activities, injuring several labourers.

The police emphasized that these operations were part of ongoing efforts to curb violent crime and extortion in Karachi, and authorities are pursuing additional suspects linked to both incidents.
