Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, has approved the release of an additional over Rs 2.7 million for the medical treatment of police employees and their families suffering from serious illnesses across Lahore and other districts.
Sharing details, the spokesperson for Punjab Police said that Constable Mumtaz Ali was provided Rs 755,000 for his son’s hearing treatment. Office Superintendent Muhammad Arshad was given 250,000 rupees for his wife’s cancer treatment. Similarly, ASI Tariq Mehmood was provided Rs 230,000 for his wife’s cancer treatment. Ghazi Inspector Muhammad Ijaz was given Rs 200,000 for brain surgery. Constables Abdul Nafay, Amir Arshad, and Attaur Rehman were provided 100,000 rupees each for medical treatment.
Similarly, Retired DSP Sabtain Bukhari, Lady Inspector Nasreen Akhtar, and Driver Constable Faiz Ahmad were also provided Rs 100,000 each for medical treatment. Ghazi Sub Inspector Muhammad Sarfraz, Constables Imtiaz Ahmad, and Shahzad Ahmad were given Rs 100,000 each for treatment. Head Constable Qamarud Din, Junior Patrolling Officer Abdul Hanan, and Driver Constable Mazhar Hussain were provided a total of 250,000 for medical treatment. Lady Constable Samina Naz and the widow of late Sanitary Worker Asif Iqbal were provided a total of 150,000 rupees for treatment. IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar approved the release of funds following scrutiny by the Medical Financial Assistance Committee. He further said that a total of Rs 7.5 billion was spent on the welfare of the police force in the past year.
Punjab Police record major achievements in 2025
Punjab Police recorded significant achievements in the fields of public service, employee welfare and crime control during the year 2025 under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 6,000 police officers and personnel across the province were promoted during 2025 strictly on merit and seniority. Approval was also obtained from the Punjab government for a new promotion structure to enable fast-track promotions for traffic wardens and senior traffic wardens.
The spokesperson said that a total of Rs 7.5 billion was spent on the welfare of police employees and their families during the year. The monthly stipend for children of police employees suffering from thalassemia was increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000, while the stipend for children with cerebral palsy was enhanced from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. In addition, a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 was approved for children of police employees affected by autism.
Regarding public services, more than 3.84 million citizens were facilitated at police Khidmat Marakaz across the province. Services were also provided to over 132,000 minority citizens through Misaaq Centres, while more than 100,000 deserving individuals benefited from protection centres.
