Punjab CM pays tribute to Louis Braille on World Braille Day

Published on: January 5, 2026 3:29 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has paid tribute to Louis Braille, the inventor of the Braille system, describing it as a vital source of knowledge and hope for persons with visual impairments.

In her message on World Braille Day, she said that Braille serves as a powerful medium to empower visually-impaired individuals through education, adding that those who dedicate themselves to enlightening the lives of visually-impaired persons with knowledge deserve appreciation and recognition.

The CM announced that a Center of Excellence for Special Individuals is being established in Punjab to promote inclusive education and skill development. She added that a Braille reading system has been introduced not only at the Center of Excellence but also in Special Education Centers across the province to facilitate visually-impaired students.

Expressing her satisfaction, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said she was immensely pleased to see visually-impaired students reading in Braille at the Center of Excellence for Special Education, where a comprehensive teaching and learning system has been put in place.

The CM underscored that visually-impaired persons possess special abilities and that it is the responsibility of the state to provide them with equal opportunities to excel and contribute meaningfully to society.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic death of three brothers due to electrocution in Sargodha. The chief minister offered her heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

She also sought a detailed report from the authorities concerned on the incident and directed them to take necessary measures to prevent such tragic accidents in future.
