Ishaq Dar strengthens Pakistan-China strategic ties

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held high-level meetings with senior Chinese officials in Beijing on Sunday, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and regional cooperation. The discussions underscored Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with China.

Dar arrived in Beijing on Saturday to co-chair the seventh round of the Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue alongside Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The dialogue aims to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and strategic collaboration between the two countries.

During the visit, Dar met Chinese Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further developing the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. Vice Premier Ding appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support on matters concerning China’s core national interests.

The leaders also highlighted the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, agreeing to leverage this milestone to create a forward-looking roadmap for cooperation, including projects under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Ding extended New Year greetings to the leadership and people of Pakistan.

Additionally, Dar met Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, congratulating the leadership on the successful fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Both sides reviewed regional developments and party-to-party exchanges.

The meetings concluded with a shared commitment to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties in a meaningful manner. Dar was received on arrival by China’s Special Representative on Afghanistan and Pakistani embassy officials, highlighting the high-level coordination of the visit.
