Punjab remained shrouded in dense fog on Sunday, forcing authorities to temporarily close multiple motorways to reduce accident risks and protect public safety. Low visibility across several regions disrupted normal travel, prompting immediate preventive measures by motorway officials.
Officials confirmed that major sections of the M-2, M-3, and M-4 motorways were closed due to dangerously reduced visibility. These closures affected key travel corridors, significantly slowing intercity movement and causing inconvenience to commuters and transport operators.

The affected stretches include the M-2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, the M-3 from Faisalabad to Darkhana, and two sections of the M-4 connecting Pindi Bhattian to Gojra and Khanewal to Multan. Authorities stressed that the closures were essential to prevent serious road accidents.
Meanwhile, motorists were advised to strictly follow safety guidelines and avoid unnecessary travel during foggy conditions. Officials recommended daytime travel between 10am and 6pm, when visibility typically improves and driving conditions are comparatively safer.

Drivers were also urged to use fog lights, maintain safe distances, follow lane discipline, and avoid speeding at all costs. These precautions, officials said, play a critical role in reducing collision risks during periods of dense fog.
Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions closely and assured that motorways will reopen once visibility improves. Motorists seeking assistance or updates have been advised to contact the motorway helpline, as safety remains the top priority.
