Mahira Khan says returning to TV feels scary and exciting

After spending several years focused on films, Mahira Khan is preparing to return to television, a move she says brings both excitement and nervousness. The acclaimed actor recently shared her thoughts during an interview with CNN, reflecting on her long journey in the entertainment industry.

Mahira revealed that next year will mark 15 years since she began her career, a milestone that has prompted her to look back on her growth as an artist. While television was the platform that made her a household name, returning to it after a successful run in films feels different this time.

“I’m going back to TV,” Mahira said, admitting that the transition is accompanied by a sense of fear. She explained that stepping out of her comfort zone is both intimidating and motivating, adding that fear often signals meaningful change.

The actor noted that this nervous energy excites her because it pushes her to grow creatively. According to Mahira, feeling scared about a new chapter means it matters deeply, and that emotion keeps her connected to her craft.

During the interview, Mahira also spoke about her formative years as a student in California, United States. She credited her time there with shaping her personality and worldview, describing it as a crucial phase of self-discovery.

“I always credit America for all these years that I lived and worked there,” she said, adding that those experiences played an important role in her life as a young woman from Pakistan navigating a different culture.

Mahira shared that she now takes her son Azlan to the United States every summer. During these trips, she recounts stories from her own life, hoping to pass on memories and lessons from those influential years.

She described that period as among the most important of her life, noting that it continues to inform her choices today. As Mahira prepares for her television comeback, she appears ready to embrace both the fear and excitement that come with returning to her roots.
