It was decided that priority measures would be taken to rehabilitate residents affected by the evacuation of 59 buildings. According to officials, flats would be constructed to provide alternative housing to those displaced due to the demolition of hazardous structures.
Addressing the meeting, the local government minister said that similar surveys should be conducted in other cities of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Sukkur and additional urban centres, to identify and address the issue of unsafe buildings before any major incidents occur.
Meanwhile, electricity supply to City View Apartments in Saddar and another dilapidated building was disconnected on Wednesday on the orders of the Cantonment Board, which had declared the buildings uninhabitable due to safety concerns.
However, the power supply was restored after senior MQM-Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar visited the area and contacted the Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Cantonment Board, Yamna Afzal. Dr Sattar also submitted a written guarantee on behalf of the residents.

Speaking to residents, Dr Sattar said that the alleged injustice against nearly 200 flat owners must come to an end, claiming that the issue involved collusion with a builder. He assured the residents of his party’s support and assistance in efforts to repair the building.
