The first spell of winter rain drenched several parts of Karachi late Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday morning, bringing a noticeable dip in temperature. Residents in many neighbourhoods welcomed the showers after weeks of dry and cool weather.
Light to moderate rainfall was reported in the Old City area, Lyari, Keamari, Mauripur, DHA and Clifton. Other localities including Saddar, North Nazimabad, Malir, Mehmoodabad and Akhtar Colony also experienced intermittent rain.

Commuters said the rain made roads slippery in some areas, slowing traffic during early morning hours. However, no major incidents related to the weather were immediately reported by authorities.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has not yet released official figures on the amount of rainfall recorded in Karachi. Meteorologists confirmed, however, that showers were observed across most parts of the metropolis.
On Sunday, the PMD had forecast rain and thunderstorms in many parts of the country during the ongoing week. The advisory also mentioned the possibility of snowfall over hilly regions as a western weather system moves across Pakistan.
For Sindh, the department had predicted isolated light rain or drizzle in several districts. These included Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Thatta and Badin, along with adjoining areas.
The fresh spell of rain is expected to further lower temperatures in Karachi, particularly during the night and early morning. Citizens have been advised to take precautions as cool and damp conditions persist.

Weather officials say similar conditions may continue intermittently over the next day. Further updates are expected as the system progresses and rainfall data is compiled.
