Asserting that the restoration of law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was a priority for the federal government, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday said that the government was ready to assist the province in the achievement of this goal. Speaking to KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, who called on him in Islamabad, the minister said that the government appreciated the sacrifices given by the people of KP in war against terror. He added that joint efforts were being made to eliminate Fitnatul Khawarij and their facilitators. “No leniency will be shown towards Khawarij,” he said emphatically. Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that cooperation by the government was necessary for weeding out terrorism from the province. He stressed the need for taking joint and coordinated steps for the eradication of terrorism. Both had a detailed discussion on the law and order situation in the province. Kundi, on the occasion, informed Naqvi of the security issues confronting KP. He also updated him on the operations being carried out against militants in the province, especially in the erstwhile tribal areas.
