Pak-China Friendship Hospital served nearly half million patients in 2025

Published on: December 30, 2025 2:10 AM

Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar treated more than 432,000 patients in 2025, providing free medical care to low-income residents from the port city and other parts of Balochistan, according to the hospital.

Demand has risen as more patients use its outpatient and emergency departments for free services, it said, with women and children among the main beneficiaries, according to a report carried by Gwadar Pro.

The hospital lists gynaecology, orthopaedics, neurology, gastroenterology, paediatrics, dentistry and oncology among the specialties available, alongside treatment for infections, diabetes and high blood pressure. The facility operates a paperless system aimed at simplifying procedures for patients, including those who are illiterate.

Built at a cost of $100 million under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework, the hospital has 150 beds and is spread over 68 acres, the hospital said.

The complex comprises six blocks, including medical, residential, nursing, a paramedical institute, a medical college and a central laboratory, along with allied services and equipment. After completion, it was handed over to the Gwadar Development Authority and is now run by Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) as a non-profit organisation, according to the hospital.

The hospital is part of broader health cooperation linked to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), including the “Health Silk Road” concept discussed at international forums.
