Taking to Instagram, the Baaghi star shared a screenshot of the news report about the petition, along with a copy of an official letter dated September 31, 2021. The letter, addressed to the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Lahore, sought permission to purchase and use a Punjab Police uniform for a DGPR Punjab project aimed at improving Pakistan’s image.
In her response, Qamar dismissed the petition as an attempt to gain attention by exploiting her public profile. Without naming anyone, she described the legal move as a “tool of publicity” and urged critics to “kindly look elsewhere for publicity.” The actress added that whatever success she enjoys today is the result of years of hard work, advising detractors to focus on their own journeys instead.

The controversy emerged after petitioner Wasim Zawar approached a local court in Lahore, alleging that Qamar appeared in a video wearing a Punjab Police uniform with an SP rank badge without obtaining prior permission from the authorities. He argued that the use of official uniforms is regulated and requires a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the police department.
The petition further claimed that an earlier application seeking registration of a case at the Old Anarkali police station had not been acted upon, prompting the legal challenge. The matter was taken up by Additional Sessions Judge Ilyas Rehan, who heard preliminary arguments related to the video circulating on social media.

Following the hearing, the court adjourned proceedings until January 14, allowing time for further consideration. Qamar’s public clarification and the shared 2021 permission request have since sparked debate online, with fans and industry figures weighing in on the issue and questioning the motive behind the petition.
