Trump unveils ‘America First 250’ aircraft design, sparks online debate

Published on: December 27, 2025 2:53 PM

Trump shows off design for 'America First 250' plane in flurry of morning social media posts

President Donald Trump triggered a wave of online reactions after unveiling the design of a new presidential aircraft dubbed “America First 250” through a rapid series of posts on his social media platform, Truth Social.

The posts appeared early on December 26, a day after Christmas, during which Trump shared updates at an unusually high frequency. Among them was a photograph showing the president standing behind the Resolute Desk with a model of the proposed aircraft placed prominently in front of him. The image was posted without a caption, prompting widespread speculation about its meaning and intent.

The aircraft design is notably minimalistic, featuring the slogan “America First” emblazoned across the body, with the number “250” positioned near the tail. Observers have linked the number to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, set to be celebrated in 2026. The design was later reposted by the official White House account, further amplifying attention.

Alongside the aircraft image, Trump also shared posts addressing a range of political issues, including criticism of the Senate filibuster, remarks on federal unemployment figures and commentary on the Epstein files, which he claimed had backfired on Democrats. However, it was the aircraft post that dominated online discussion.

On social media platform X, users reacted with a mix of curiosity, humour and scepticism. Some questioned whether Trump intended to rename Air Force One, while others speculated whether the design was connected to reports of a luxury aircraft allegedly offered to Trump by Qatar. A few commenters joked about turning “America First” into an airline brand.

The reveal comes as Trump has already outlined ambitious plans for America’s 250th birthday celebrations. These reportedly include hosting a UFC event on the White House South Lawn and organising a nationwide athletic competition for young people known as the “Patriot Games,” proposals that have drawn both interest and criticism.

While no official details have been released regarding whether the “America First 250” design will be adopted, the reveal has once again demonstrated Trump’s ability to dominate online conversation through unconventional announcements.
