North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has instructed officials to increase missile production and build more factories to meet rising military demands. State media reported the orders on Friday, highlighting Pyongyang’s focus on strengthening its war deterrent.
Kim visited munitions factories with top officials and stressed the need to “further expand overall production capacity.” He emphasized that the missile and shell sector is crucial for national defense. The move comes amid North Korea’s intensified missile testing in recent years.

Analysts say the increased production also supports potential exports to Russia. Pyongyang has sent troops, missiles, and artillery to aid Moscow in the Ukraine conflict. In return, Russia provides financial aid, military technology, and energy supplies to North Korea.
Meanwhile, Kim also toured a nuclear submarine factory and reviewed research on “new underwater secret weapons.” North Korea is reportedly seeking advanced military technologies, including nuclear-powered submarines and fighter jets, to offset its air force limitations.
