Pakistan knows how to safeguard its sovereignty, says Bilawal

Published on: December 23, 2025 2:24 AM

The Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said that Pakistan knows how to protect its sovereignty, while the armed forces remain vigilant day and night to defend the country, stressing the need for national unity. He expressed these views while addressing the 63rd Parents’ Day ceremony of Cadet College Petaro as the chief guest.

Bilawal Bhutto said that the armed forces were tirelessly performing their duty to safeguard the country, adding that youth were the future of the nation and Cadet College Petaro had played a vital role in their character building of youth. He said the cadets were being taught that excellence and progress were not inherited. Calling the institution important for his family as well, he told the cadets that his father Asif Ali Zardari, once stood at the same place where they stand today.

He said that although his father was elected president twice, he also holds the unique distinction of spending more than thirteen and a half years as a political prisoner. Referring to the challenges facing the country including economic pressure, regional uncertainty and a rapidly changing world, Bilawal Bhutto said Pakistan has never lacked courage.

He said that whenever the nation stood united, Pakistan never failed, and recently the armed forces once again proved this reality. Pakistan defended its sovereignty through professionalism, preparedness and unity, achieving a clear military victory, which was not only military but also moral.

Bilawal Bhutto said the Pakistan Army reminded the world that in times of trial, Pakistan stands strong, organized and determined. However, he added that the strength of nations was not measured by weapons alone, but by character.

He said that Sindh had always remained the heart of Pakistan’s story and expressed hope that Sindh would continue to produce principled leaders for the country.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also attended the ceremony. On the occasion, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, along with Principal Cadet College Petaro Commodore Faisal Iqbal Qazi inspected the parade and met faculty members. The principal presented the college’s annual report, while the cadets presented a guard of honour and showcased PT displays, gymnastics, horse riding and other skills.

MNA Malik Asad Sikandar, MPAs Sikandar Shoro and Malik Sikandar, Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, DIG Tariq Razaue Dharejo, Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Ghazanfar Ali Qadri, SSP Zafar Siddique Chhanga and other officers and guests wre also presented on the occasion.
