Dar holds talks with Iran and Turkiye on regional matters

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held separate telephonic conversations with his counterparts from Iran and Turkiye to discuss bilateral relations and key regional developments. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and coordinating views on issues affecting regional peace and stability.

In a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges. They also exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and broader developments of mutual concern.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations. They emphasised the importance of working closely together to promote regional peace, stability and sustainable development.

The conversation highlighted the shared desire of Islamabad and Tehran to enhance economic ties and improve connectivity, which officials say could contribute to greater regional integration. The two foreign ministers also agreed to maintain regular high-level contacts to advance their common objectives.

Separately, Senator Dar spoke by phone with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss key aspects of Pakistan-Turkiye bilateral relations. The two leaders reviewed ongoing cooperation and explored ways to deepen collaboration in various fields.

They also shared perspectives on regional and international developments, with particular focus on the situation in Palestine and Gaza. Both sides expressed concern over the humanitarian and security challenges in the region.

During the call, the foreign ministers underscored the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, investment and connectivity. They also highlighted the value of strengthening people-to-people exchanges to further solidify ties between the two countries.

The Foreign Office said the conversations reflected Pakistan’s continued engagement with regional partners to address shared challenges. Both calls reaffirmed a common commitment to promoting regional peace, stability and development through dialogue and cooperation.
