Pakistan’s mobile phone imports surged 40.5 percent in the first five months of FY2025–26. Imports reached $801.1 million during July to November. This compared with $570.2 million in the same period last year.
In rupee terms, the import bill climbed to Rs226.1 billion during the period. This showed a year-on-year growth of 42.6 percent. Higher demand and currency effects supported the increase.

On a month-on-month basis, mobile phone imports rose 8.3 percent in November. They stood at $156.6 million compared with $144.6 million in October. However, imports declined 4.8 percent year-on-year from November 2024.
During the last fiscal year 2024–25, mobile phone imports totaled $1.49 billion. This marked a decline of 21.3 percent from the previous year. Overall telecom imports also fell 11.3 percent to $2.09 billion.

Meanwhile, local manufacturing continued to dominate the market in 2025. Plants assembled 25.11 million handsets in ten months, including smartphones and 2G phones. PTA data shows smartphones now make up 70 percent of devices nationwide.
