Punjab gets lowest NFC share, says Maryam Nawaz

Published on: December 18, 2025 4:39 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said Punjab receives the smallest share under the NFC award despite its population. She said every province gets significant NFC funds, but Punjab’s share is the lowest. She made the remarks while addressing a laptop distribution ceremony in Lodhran.

Maryam Nawaz said Punjab’s available funds are being spent directly on public welfare. She claimed accusations of Punjab having excess funds are attempts to hide inefficiency and corruption in other provinces. She added that critics focus on protocol while their provinces face hunger and crumbling infrastructure.

Highlighting development initiatives, she said 2026 would be the year of Punjab’s youth. She promised large-scale projects for young people and vowed not to let their dreams collapse. She said 80,000 students received scholarships in 18 months, while over 125,000 houses are being built in one year.

The chief minister said children’s health and higher education remain top priorities. She added that cleanliness staff under the “Suthra Punjab” initiative are working in both urban and rural areas. She also praised the Crime Control Department for improving law and order.

Maryam Nawaz said crimes against women and children are her red line and police respond immediately to harassment cases. She claimed Punjab is now safer for women. She stressed that public relief requires hard work, not chaos, adding that Pakistan has moved past divisive politics and returned to stability.
