
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has underscored Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Qatar, highlighting the potential for enhanced cooperation in trade and investment. His remarks came on the occasion of Qatar’s National Day, when he extended congratulations to the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Qatari people.

President Zardari described Pakistan–Qatar relations as long-standing and fraternal, rooted in shared values and mutual respect. He praised Qatar’s leadership under the Amir, noting the country’s significant development achievements and its constructive role in regional and international affairs.

Highlighting areas for collaboration, the president emphasized that Pakistan is keen to expand partnerships in investment, trade, energy, agriculture, and technology. He noted that stronger economic engagement could bring mutual benefits and promote sustainable development for both nations. Manpower cooperation and robust people-to-people contacts, he said, form the backbone of Pakistan–Qatar ties.
President Zardari reiterated his resolve to further strengthen bilateral friendship and expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan–Qatar relations. He called for continued dialogue and engagement to unlock the full potential of economic and cultural cooperation.
In a separate message marking World Farmers’ Day, the president paid tribute to Pakistani farmers, calling them the backbone of the national economy, food security, and rural development. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the agricultural sector, including water scarcity, climate change, and rising input costs, and stressed the importance of implementing concrete measures to enhance farmers’ welfare.
