Due to the facility of hurdle-free registration of criminal cases in Punjab, in the last eleven months, 1,044,763 cases have been registered across the province, among them, 106,674 cases were dismissed, 1,557,970 accused were nominated, 276,268 accused were found innocent, 666,969 accused were arrested, 22,816 were convicted and 13,015 were acquitted.
According to Punjab Police statistics, Lahore region topped the list with 253,695 cases registered. In these registered cases, 314,332 accused were nominated, while 115,168 people were arrested, 105,548 found not guilty, only 50 accused were punished, and 2,012 accused were acquitted.
In the Gujranwala region, 106,607 cases were registered, 153,255 were nominated as accused, 18,777 accused were found not guilty, a total of 51,966 accused were arrested, only 790 accused were convicted, and 831 were acquitted.
In the Sheikhupura region, 94,701 cases were registered, 140,089 accused were nominated, 17,242 were declared innocent, and 63,704 were arrested. 3,044 accused were convicted, while 898 were acquitted in the cases.
In the Rawalpindi region, 65,458 cases were registered, 96,053 total cases were nominated as accused, among them 8,224 accused were found innocent. A total of 49,976 accused were arrested, 1,680 were convicted and 1,539 were acquitted.
In the Faisalabad region, 108,149 cases were registered against 111,292 accused; 16,348 were acquitted, and 49,212 accused were arrested. 237 accused were convicted while 1,204 were acquitted.
In the Multan region, 113,931 cases were registered, 107,631 people were nominated, 25,262 accused were acquitted, 70,904 accused were arrested, only 4,791 were convicted, and 405 accused were acquitted.
In the Sahiwal region, 60,565 cases were registered, 108,856 total were nominated as accused, 18,843 accused were acquitted, 45,025 accused were arrested, 847 were convicted and 948 acquitted.
In the DG Khan region, 64,685 cases were registered, 101,464 total accused nominated, among them, 12,202 accused were acquitted, 56,652 were arrested. Only 3,735 accused were convicted, 434 acquitted
In the Bahawalpur region, 72,771 cases were registered against 118,910 accused. 25,619 accused were acquitted, 52,210 were arrested, and 1,767 were convicted. 1,287 accused were acquitted.
In the Gujarat region, 48,904 cases were registered against 76,812 people. 11,529 accused were acquitted, and 35,636 were arrested. Only 868 accused were convicted, 1,391 acquitted.
