SIUT Trust teams up with Edhi Foundation for development of medical education

Published on: December 12, 2025 5:33 AM

SIUT Trust shares the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Edhi Foundation, establishing a strategic partnership to strengthen cooperation in undergraduate technical and medical education. The initiative will be carried out through Sindh Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS)-SIUT, a degree awarding institute by HEC.

The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Adib Rizvi, Founder of SIUT, and Mr. Faisal Edhi, CEO-Edhi Foundation, marking a significant step toward expanding educational opportunities and fostering collaborative development.

SIUT and the Edhi Foundation share a longstanding relationship rooted in humanitarian service. Over the years, the Edhi Foundation has generously supported SIUT’s mission, including a donation of 100 million in 2014 to renovate and convert an operation theatre into a modern facility, named as Abdul Sattar and Bilquees Edhi Transplant OT Complex. The Foundation also provided 8 ambulances and 2 loaders that continue to transport critically ill patients without any financial burden.

Pakistan is navigating a period of rising inflation, where healthcare and education have increasingly become out-of-pocket challenges for many families. Yet, these remain fundamental rights that every individual deserves. For more than five decades, SIUT has upheld this commitment with dedication and purpose.

This MoU builds on a shared legacy of serving humanity. It aims to equip students with modern learning tools, exposure to emerging technologies, and real-world clinical training. Through this collaboration, SIUT and Edhi Foundation seek to strengthen capacity building, nurture future leaders, and contribute to sustainable, long-term progress for Pakistan’s healthcare and education sectors.
