Balochistan gets first-ever women-only bus service

Published on: December 11, 2025 2:52 AM

Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti Wednesday inaugurated the province’s first-ever Pink Bus Service in Quetta, calling it a revolutionary step toward providing dignified, safe, and high-quality travel facilities for women.

The Chief Minister noted that the initiative is a practical realization of the vision articulated by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the day of his oath-taking of CM Balochistan.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, which also included the expansion of the Green Bus Service, CM Bugti said it was a moment of pride that the Pink Bus Service was starting, following the introduction of Pink Scooties programme.

“Women’s empowerment is the foundation of social progress,” added CM Bugti.

He highlighted the outstanding performance of women Deputy Commissioners serving in various districts of Balochistan, proving women’s equal capability in administrative affairs.

The launch of the Pink Bus Service, along with scholarships for women and other development programs, are key parts of the government’s practical efforts to provide new opportunities for women in every field.

The Chief Minister on the occasion also deliver a strong message to extremist elements who seek to mislead Baloch women.

“These measures are a clear message to those elements who are forcing Baloch women to become suicide bombers instead of pursuing education and development, misleading them and pushing them towards negative thinking and a fruitless war.”

He stressed that the Balochistan government is committed to opening the doors of the world’s best universities for its daughters. He asserted that the Baloch people have never benefited from this “purposeless war” and that the reality will become clear to the entire nation in the coming years.

CM Bugti expressed his firm resolve, saying that the state will succeed in this war, and that development, peace, and a bright future will be the destiny of Balochistan.

CM Bugti reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing modern and quality transport facilities to the people of the province.

Sarfraz Bugti announced the expansion of Green Bus Service to Pishin, Mastung, and Turbat.

The CM also revealed the plan of Quetta-Sariab Peoples Train Project, progressing steadily to ease urban transport.

This project is making significant progress and will prove to be a major convenience for citizens.

He said that the plan is underway to introduce electric buses in Balochistan to tackle both public convenience and environmental pollution challenges.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Provincial Ministers, Members of the Assembly, leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party, media representatives, civil society members, and officials concerned.
