
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Wednesday that protecting human rights remains the core vision and leading priority of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. She issued this message on International Human Rights Day, highlighting the global significance of promoting dignity and equality for all individuals.
She emphasised that the first complete human rights charter was delivered during the Farewell Sermon and noted that Islam stands as the strongest advocate of justice and equality. Moreover, she stated that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) presented a timeless message that continues to guide societies towards fairness and compassion.

Maryam Nawaz also said that December 10 is marked worldwide to raise awareness about the value of human rights. She stressed that every person, regardless of religion, race, gender or social class, deserves equal treatment. Additionally, she noted that respecting these rights forms the foundation of a developed and peaceful society.
Furthermore, she reiterated that promoting human rights mirrors PML-N’s vision, adding that the government remains focused on healthcare, education, religious freedom, freedom of expression and access to basic services. She expressed that creating a fair society requires equal opportunities and justice for all citizens without any form of discrimination.

The chief minister added that spreading love, respect and tolerance is essential for safeguarding fundamental rights. She said that protecting citizens’ basic rights is a key responsibility of the state and a hallmark of a civilized and progressive society dedicated to long-term stability.
Maryam Nawaz concluded that the Punjab government has taken practical steps to protect people’s rights, including measures against forced labour, ensuring religious freedom and improving access to impartial justice. She reaffirmed her commitment to continue strengthening these protections across the province.
