Vice Chancellor UoG Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq Visits Sub-Campus Mandi Bahauddin; Announces Major Scholarships and Infrastructure Development

Gujrat (PR): Vice Chancellor of the University of Gujrat, Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), paid a goodwill visit to the University of Gujrat Sub-Campus Mandi Bahauddin and participated in a welcome ceremony organized by student societies. Upon arrival, Director of the Sub-Campus, Dr. Zaki-ul-Zaman Asim, along with his team, accorded him a warm reception.

Dr. Zaki-ul-Zaman Asim briefed the Vice Chancellor on the academic programs, student strength, and infrastructural facilities of the sub-campus. Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq expressed his satisfaction over the standard of academic activities. This marked his first official visit to the Mandi Bahauddin Sub-Campus after assuming charge as Vice Chancellor.

Addressing the students and faculty, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that strong institutions are built through the right decisions, visionary leadership, and strict adherence to merit. He described the students as the most valuable asset and central pillar of the University of Gujrat.

He announced that during the current year, the University of Gujrat will spend Rs. 15 billion on student welfare. Scholarships amounting to Rs. 2.5 billion have been allocated for newly admitted students, while orphans and single-parent students are receiving free education. A total of 15 different categories of scholarships are being offered, and currently every fifth student of the university is studying on scholarship. He further expressed the hope that the scholarship fund will be enhanced to Rs. 3.5 billion next year.

To improve transport facilities, the Vice Chancellor announced the purchase of new buses worth Rs. 5 billion this year. Moreover, Rs. 5 billion is being spent on infrastructure rehabilitation. For laboratory enhancement, Rs. 1.2 billion worth of modern computers, Rs. 1.2 billion for solarization, and additional equipment of equal value are being procured.

To address the shortage of faculty, recruitment against 140 teaching positions is underway, including 92 Assistant Professors and nearly 50 Associate Professors and Professors. He assured that the Sub-Campus Mandi Bahauddin will also receive new faculty members soon to further raise academic standards.

Prof. Dr. Zahoor-ul-Haq advised students to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, mutual respect, and high moral character, and to pursue excellence through hard work and determination. He stressed that strong academic relationships between students and teachers lay the foundation for successful careers.

Highlighting emerging trends, he stated that Artificial Intelligence and modern technology have opened new dimensions in education and research, making continuous learning essential for success. He encouraged students to set clear goals and remain steadfast in their pursuit.

He also announced the establishment of a Career Development Center and Alumni Office at the University of Gujrat, with plans to form an Alumni Association in the near future. Additionally, students will be offered honorariums for performing various campus responsibilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Sub-Campus Dr. Zaki-ul-Zaman Asim said that confronting challenges is the hallmark of success. He urged students to complete their education with dedication and contribute positively toward building a prosperous Pakistan.

The University of Gujrat Sub-Campus Mandi Bahauddin, established in 2019, has been successfully offering quality higher education for the past six years in the disciplines of English, Physics, Psychology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, and BBA.
