Violations of traffic laws in Punjab, including Lahore, more than 794,000 illegal number plates were seized. In the first 10 months of this year, fines of more than Rs 202 million were imposed on illegal number plates.
The police also carried out a major crackdown against tinted windows, with more than 202,000 challans issued and fines of more than Rs 101.4 million imposed across the province. Daily Times received an official report on traffic violations and fines worth crores of rupees.
Lahore is once again on top; more than 300,000 challans were issued for illegal number plates, and more than 64,000 challans were issued for tinted windows in Lahore. Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Multan are also among the top violating districts.
More than 41,000 illegal number plates were seized in Gujranwala, more than 33,000 challans were issued for illegal number plates in Faisalabad, more than 30,000 illegal number plate cases were reported in Multan, 98,000 in Rawalpindi, more than 25,000 challans for illegal number plates in Sialkot, and 21,000 challans in Sargodha and Okara, respectively.
More than 10,000 cases of illegal number plates were reported in Nankana Sahib, 17,000 in Bahawalpur, more than 9,000 cases were reported in Sheikhupura, more than 23,000 cases of tinted glass were reported in Faisalabad, more than 11.6 million fines were imposed, more than 13,000 challans for tinted glass were issued in Multan, and more than 6.7 million fines were imposed.
