In a major police encounter in Shikarpur, nine armed dacoits were killed, while four police officers, including two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), were injured.

According to the Shikarpur SSP, the clash took place in the Manchar Sheikh area on Tuesday. During the operation, DSP Garhi Yasin, Zahoor Soomro sustained injuries, and DSP City Pars Bakrani was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities reported that drone technology was being utilized to monitor and track the suspects during the operation. One bandit has been captured alive in a wounded condition, while four police officers sustained injuries in the firefight.

The slain bandits have been identified as Awais Sheikh, Yasin Sheikh, Asif Sheikh, Kararo Sheikh, Shehzado Sheikh, Shahmur Sheikh, Imdad Sheikh, and Sajid Sheikh. Police are continuing the search operation to ensure that no other suspects remain at large in the area.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah paid tribute to the bravery of police officers and personnel injured during an operation against dacoit criminal gangs in Shikarpur.

He directed the police to intensify actions against dacoit gangs and ensure full restoration of law and order in the district.

In a statement from CM House, the Chief Minister expressed solidarity with DSP City Shikarpur Pars Bakrani, DSP Garhi Yasin Zahoor Soomro, and four injured personnel, conveying his prayers for their speedy recovery.

The CM instructed Chairman District Council Sukkur Syed Kumail Shah to arrange an air ambulance for the injured officers if necessary, ensuring they receive the best possible medical treatment.

“Those dacoits who do not surrender will face strict action,” warned the CM.

Murad Ali Shah emphasised that police have been given clear directions to uphold the state’s authority in Shikarpur. “No leniency will be tolerated. Criminal elements must be eliminated, and peace must be restored in Shikarpur,” he stressed.

IG briefs CM on Shikarpur operation: Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon briefed the Chief Minister about the latest law-enforcement action in Manchhar Shah, Shikarpur.

He reported that DSP Pars Bakrani, DSP Zahoor Soomro, and two police personnel were injured during an armed attack by dacoits and were swiftly shifted to the hospital. The IGP added that nine criminals were killed in the encounter, including the neutralisation of the ring leaders. The dacoits were wanted for several serious crimes, such as kidnapping for ransom and other violent offences.

Police used armoured vehicles and drone technology during the operation, enhancing both safety and precision.

The Chief Minister directed police to expand operations throughout Shikarpur and nearby areas to eradicate the remaining criminal networks. “Operations must continue with full force. Anyone attempting to disrupt peace will be dealt with strictly,” he ordered.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in Shikarpur and assured full support for police operations in the district.
