
Pakistan will launch its final nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaign of 2025 from December 15, targeting 45 million children. Over 400,000 health workers will participate, aiming to curb the spread of the highly infectious disease. Authorities urge parents to cooperate and ensure children receive all required doses.
The campaign will run from December 15 to 21, covering Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Punjab alone will see 23 million children vaccinated, followed by Sindh with 10.6 million, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with over 7.2 million. Officials stress timely completion of routine immunisations alongside the campaign.

Polio remains endemic in Pakistan, one of only two countries globally where the wild poliovirus persists. The disease can cause irreversible paralysis, and repeated doses of oral polio vaccine are crucial for every child under five.
Health authorities remind parents that cooperation with vaccination teams is essential. NEOC officials highlighted the importance of completing routine immunisations for children up to 15 months old.
