Lahore court seeks FIA report on petition against Customs Collector

Published on: December 8, 2025 1:09 PM

LAHORE – A Lahore sessions court on Monday heard a petition seeking the registration of a case against Customs Collector Muhammad Saeed Wattoo and other officials. The court directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore to submit a report on the matter.

The petition was filed by citizen Adnan Muneer, who named FIA Lahore, the Chief Collector Customs, and other officials as respondents. Muneer claimed that despite submitting an application to the FIA requesting action, no steps had been taken against the accused officials.

He alleged that the customs officials were involved in corruption and misconduct and requested the court to order the registration of a formal case against them.

FIA/NCCIA had registered two FIRs against @SohrabBarkatt. Both were argued before Judge Naeem Wattoo, in Lahore.

During the proceedings, the Additional Sessions Judge considered the petition and sought a detailed report from the FIA regarding the allegations. The court emphasized the need for accountability and directed the agency to respond before the next hearing.

The hearing was adjourned until December 18, giving the FIA time to compile and submit its findings. The court’s decision reflects ongoing efforts by citizens and the judiciary to hold public officials accountable for alleged irregularities in government departments.

The case adds to the growing scrutiny of customs and other regulatory authorities in Pakistan, highlighting concerns over transparency and adherence to proper procedures.

Legal experts noted that such petitions play a crucial role in ensuring oversight of public officials and can prompt investigations into alleged corruption when administrative bodies fail to act.
