‘The Boys’ Season 5 trailer reveals final battle against Homelander

Published on: December 8, 2025 1:13 AM

The countdown to the final showdown against Homelander is officially on, as Prime Video released the trailer for The Boys Season 5, giving fans their first glimpse of the series’ swan-song season.

The reveal came during CCXP in Brazil, where attendees got an exclusive look at the fifth and final season of the popular Prime Video drama.

The event also confirmed the official premiere date for The Boys Season 5 as April 8, 2026, with the first two episodes dropping together, followed by weekly releases through May 20, 2026.

Prime Video shared a synopsis for the upcoming season, highlighting that Homelander is now fully in control, his world dictated by erratic and egomaniacal whims.

Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a so-called “Freedom Camp,” while Annie struggles to organise a resistance against the overwhelming Supe forces.

Kimiko remains missing. Butcher reappears with a virus capable of eliminating all Supes, setting off a chain of events that promises to alter the world and the lives of the characters forever.

The trailer also offers a first look at Jared Padalecki joining the final season, reuniting with fellow Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, with Soldier Boy returning as a series regular.

Fans also see Ashley following her Compound V transformation at the end of season 4, hinting at the challenges she will face in the concluding season.

During the FAN EXPO panel, moderated by ScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier, Karl Urban, who portrays Billy Butcher, indicated that the final season will feature multiple character deaths, beginning as early as the first episode. Additionally, cast members from Gen V will appear, continuing storylines established in season 2 of that spin-off.

The trailer sets a tense and dramatic tone for The Boys Season 5, making clear that the final season will bring high stakes, intense action and major consequences for all characters. The April 8, 2026 release marks the beginning of the end for one of Prime Video’s most popular and controversial series.
