
The 35th National Games officially began in Karachi with a grand opening ceremony at the National Stadium, marking the event’s return to the city after nearly two decades.
Thousands of spectators, athletes, officials, and dignitaries attended the colourful ceremony, creating a vibrant atmosphere that celebrated national pride and the spirit of sportsmanship across Pakistan.

Paris Olympics gold medallist Arshad Nadeem lit the Olympic torch, joined by hockey legend Islahuddin Siddiqui and other national sports icons, symbolizing unity, hope, and the competitive spirit of the Games.
Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari attended as chief guest, alongside Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, provincial ministers, and senior officials from the Pakistan Olympic Association and sports federations.

The ceremony featured a traditional march-past of all participating units, while young athletes Muhammad Zubair Muneer and Mahnoor Fatima administered the athletes’ oath, pledging fair play and dedication to sportsmanship.
Cultural performances enhanced the opening, including laser shows, exhibition sports, and live musical performances by Hadiqa Kiani and Ali Zafar, concluding with a stunning fireworks display that lit up the Karachi skyline.
With competitions now underway, athletes from across Pakistan will compete for glory, inspiring a new generation and reinforcing the National Games as a symbol of unity, talent, and sporting excellence.
