Auqaf dept holds Qiraat competition

The Sindh Department of Auqaf, Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr organized the International Husn e Qiraat Competition at Mehran Hotel Karachi on 3rd December. Provincial Minister Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi and Secretary Auqaf Muhammad Mureed Rahmoon welcomed international guests, scholars and participating reciters with the traditional Ajrak.

A total of 58 countries took part in the competition, including participants from the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia.

According to the results, Iman Rizwan from Malaysia secured first position; Adnan from Iran secured second position while Abdul Rashid from Pakistan got third position. The minister presented special shields on behalf of the department to all three position holders. Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi praised the efforts of the participating reciters and congratulated the winners. He said that a person succeeds when he reads the Holy Quran with understanding and follows its guidance because the Quran provides the most authentic direction in life. He added that the competition sends a positive message to the Muslim world and encourages young the reciters. He said that supporting such religious and academic events is an honour for the department.

The conference was attended by Dr. Ghulam Shah Waif Isfahani, Dr. Ikramullah, Qari Wajahat Raza, Ahmad Nadeem Khan and Hafiz Abdul Qudoos. The Mehfil Hasan Qiraat competition was attended by various provincial and federal officials, as well as political and social leaders from other sectors. The Mehfil Hasan Qiraat was highly appreciated by the participants at the international level and the performance of the reciters in this year’s competition was described highly positive step of Auqaf, Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Department, Government of Sindh.
